"The Shell"
The object is a carved shell. The detail of the carving is inked. The shell is translucent. The box was designed to contain a flashlight lens that is mounted behind the shell. The pearl that you see just below the shell is mounted on a push button switch. This switches the light on which illuminates the shell, showing its detail. The light is powered by two D cell batteries. The woods are Alaskan yellow cedar and cherry. The silver hardware was custom made by Tom Whiting (Masters Gallery, Camden, Maine).
